My name is Phil Birkelbach. Recently I acquired a really exciting project. I was offered a deal that I simply could not refuse on an almost complete Pitts S1-C. This airplane was built by Elton Hazel over many years. The workmanship on this airplane is superb but it has been sitting for a long time. Some of it for more than 30 years. It has never flown but I intend to finish it and get it flying. This site will chronicle that journey.
